About Our Team

Our Story

Our team is united by a shared passion for supporting individuals who are blind or have low vision. With extensive experience in providing life-changing services at camps and programs across the country—including Oregon, Washington, Nebraska, and the Four Corners region—we are dedicated to making a lasting impact in the lives of those we serve.

Our team is uniquely diverse, with members from various professional backgrounds. This includes individuals with low vision, an orientation and mobility specialist, an adapted PE teacher, a special education teacher, a parent of a child with low vision, and specialists from the Colorado Department of Education with expertise in deaf-blindness. Together, we bring a wealth of knowledge, understanding, and compassion.

We believe in the power of community, and through our programs, we aim to foster independence, empowerment, and a brighter future for those living with low vision and blindness.

Mission Statement:

Camp Abilities Colorado- Blind Youth Adventure’s mission is to empower visually impaired students to be an integrated and active part of their world. Through physical activity and challenges, youth build confidence, self-awareness, and endurance to enable them to self-advocate. By building self-efficacy students learn about their boundaries and how best to communicate and problem-solve for access to the goals they want to achieve.
